Comox Valley
Farmers Market - Come For The Freshness, Stay For The Fun!
The Farmers' Market is open every Saturday morning until the last
Saturday before Christmas.
Starting October 18, 2008, we will move indoors at the
Native Sons Hall. Support local produce and products that are made in your area
(not
trucked in from far-away lands) and be a part of supporting
environmentally-sound principles. Be sure to visit us for the freshest products in the Comox
Valley!
Welcome to the fresh taste of the Comox Valley - over 80 farmers,
fishers, and bakers bring their locally-produced products to market.
Why it pays to visit the Comox Valley
Farmers' Market...
The food is at its freshest because it doesn't have to travel
hundreds of miles to get to you.
Local producers can select their produce varieties for taste,
rather than their ability to travel.
You can help ensure that local farmland will stay in
production.
You can talk to the people who grow or make your food and they
can and will respond to your needs, tastes, and questions.
More than a marketplace, it's a social gathering where friends
and families meet.
So, come on down, pick up your fresh, local farm products
and fine foods; all produced in the Regional District of Comox
Strathcona
and sold to you by the person who grew or made it.
While you are at the market, you can sit down at a picnic table
or on a bale of straw and enjoy some of the best
live entertainment the Comox
Valley has to offer.
Friends and families come together to relax and enjoy local
entertainment, coffee, snacks, and good conversation. They come
to talk with farmers and those who produce the products sold.
They come for the freshest it gets, delicious and wholesome
home-grown foods, from right here in the Comox Valley.

The rules of the market require that all goods sold must be
grown, raised, baked or gathered in the Comox Strathcona Regional
District.
There are 3 locations, depending on
the day of the week and the time of the year. Read the
latest news.
New vendors are welcome. The market provides an excellent
opportunity to offer your local farm or food product directly to the
consumer. Click on Vendor Information
if you are interested in becoming a member.
Hints for Market Shoppers
For best selection, shop early. Growers often bring
just a few pounds of some items, and naturally the choice
produce goes first.
Take time to chat with farmers. Building
relationships is part of the fun of shopping at farmers'
markets. You will become a wiser shopper, probably improve your
cooking skills, and make a new friend.
Take your children with you. Too many kids have no
idea where food comes from and how it looks in its unprocessed
state.
Try not to over-buy. One of the main reasons to shop
at a farmers' market is to get fresh food and cook it while it
is still fresh.
Take your own bags or shopping baskets. Our new Comox
Valley Farmers' Market bags are available from most vendors.
Buy something you haven't tried before. A farmers'
market is a great place to get educated about food. Never cooked
bison or fresh tuna? Our farmers and fishers can advise you how
to select and prepare it.
Plan to go straight home after your shopping
expedition, on a hot day, so you don't leave your purchases in a
sweltering car.
